Our global platform and our modern fleet are strategically located in key regions to serve our customers, and we remain nimble and agile, which better enables us to take advantage of opportunities in today's dynamic markets. We delivered net income and adjusted earnings 1 of $113 million ($2.71 per diluted share) for 2023. Rates remained elevated throughout the year, due to very tight supply-demand fundamentals. Ongoing and new geopolitical conflicts and climate-related water shortages in the Panama Canal resulted in rerouting of vessels and longer voyage times, increasing ton-mile demand, while the number of vessels in our markets remained constrained. Our results also reflect our focus on commercial and operational quality and efficiency. We have a diverse and talented team across the company, with strong collaboration between seafarers and onshore staff, which helps drive our continued progress. I'd particularly like to acknowledge the key role of our seafarers in helping to ensure smooth functioning of global supply chains. In this increasingly dangerous world, their safety remains a top priority of Ardmore. Executing Capital Allocation Policy Our capital allocation policy sets out our priorities among fleet maintenance, financial strength, accretive growth and, once the other priorities are achieved, returning capital to shareholders. In 2023, we continued to execute our capital allocati
