Business
Business Reinsurance Group of America, Incorporated ("RGA") is an insurance holding company that was formed on December 31, 1992. RGA and its subsidiaries (collectively, the "Company") is engaged in providing traditional reinsurance, which includes individual and group life and health, disability and critical illness reinsurance. The Company also provides financial solutions, which includes longevity reinsurance, asset-intensive products (primarily annuities), financial reinsurance, capital solutions and stable value products. Basis of Presentation The unaudited condensed consolidated financial statements of the Company have been prepared in conformity with accounting principles generally accepted in the United States of America ("GAAP") for interim financial information and with the instructions to Form 10-Q and Article 10 of Regulation S-X of the Securities and Exchange Commission ("SEC"). Accordingly, these condensed consolidated financial statements do not include all of the information and footnotes required by GAAP for complete financial statements and should be read in conjunction with the Company's 2023 Annual Report on Form 10-K filed with the SEC on February 24, 2024 (the "2023 Annual Report"). In the opinion of management, all adjustments, including normal recurring adjustments necessary for a fair presentation, have been included. Interim results are not necessarily indicative of the results that may be expected for the year ending December 31, 2024. Consolidation These unaudited condensed consolidated financial statements include the accounts of RGA and its subsidiaries, and all intercompany accounts and transactions have been eliminated.
