01 Other Events
Item 8.01 Other Events The E.W. Scripps Company (the "Company") has appointed Dave Giles as the new Chief Legal Officer, effective immediately. Mr. Giles replaces Bill Appleton, who previously announced his plan to retire at the end of 2024. Mr. Appleton will continue his employment with the Company in an advisory role through the end of the year. Tamera Hylton has also been named as the Company's Chief Ethics Officer. Mr. Giles has served as Chief Ethics Officer since 2010 and been with the organization since 2004. He oversees the Company's litigation, including defamation and intellectual property matters, antitrust compliance and regulatory issues involving the Federal Communications Commission and the Federal Trade Commission. He has also overseen Scripps' employment and labor practice. Prior to joining the Company, he was an attorney with Baker Hostetler. The press release announcing these appointments is included as an exhibit to this report.
