ITEM 4.01 CHANGES IN REGISTRANT'S CERTIFYING ACCOUNTANT On January 23, 2024, the Audit Committee of the Board of Directors (the "Audit Committee") of Capitol Federal Financial, Inc. (the "Company"), after conducting a request for proposal process, approved the appointment of KPMG LLP ("KPMG") as the Company's new independent registered public accounting firm for the fiscal year ending September 30, 2024, and related interim periods, subject to completion of KPMG's standard client acceptance procedures and execution of an engagement letter. In connection with its selection of KPMG, on January 23, 2024, the Audit Committee also approved the dismissal of Deloitte & Touche LLP ("Deloitte") as the Company's independent registered public accounting firm, effective as of the date of Deloitte's completion of its services to the Company for the fiscal quarter ended December 31, 2023. During the Company's two most recent fiscal years ended September 30, 2023 and 2022, and the subsequent interim period through January 23, 2024, there were no disagreements (as defined in Item 304(a)(1)(iv) of Regulation S-K and the related instructions) between the Company and Deloitte on any matter of accounting principles or practices, financial statement disclosure, or auditing scope or procedure which, if not resolved to Deloitte's satisfaction, would have caused Deloitte to make reference to the subject matter of the disagreement in connection with Deloitte's reports on the Company's consolidated financial statements for the fiscal years ended September 30, 2023 and 2022.
